Avis is a male Honey Bee and the younger brother of the Honey Bee Queen of the Bee Hive store, although as he explains to Kimihito, he is not really a prince, as his sister is more of a leader than a queen with royal status. He makes his debut in Chapter 89.
Appearance[]
Avis is a young honey bee man with short hair of almost youthful stature. As a Honey Bee, he has compound eyes, two short black antennae on his forehead and four arms, with three fingers each, which are covered with a carapace. In addition, he also has two large insect wings on his upper back and a large bee abdomen on his lower back. He also has carapace-covered legs.
As clothes, Avis wears a short, sleeveless black shirt with an opening for his wings at the back, as well as shorts. He also wears black boots.
Personality[]
Avis has a generally friendly personality, which allows him to get along well with many people, such as Milme and Kimihito. He cares deeply for his older sister, the Honey Bee Queen, and sometimes goes to great lengths to help her, such as when he and Milmes put out a request for a sutable boyfriend for their sisters via Extraspecies Exchange online websites, although they where also concerned with stopping the conflict between their Liminal groups. Avis also seems to be somewhat naive, as he assumes that his sister is a generally nice person just because she is nice to him, without realizing that she just doting him as her little brother.
He is also very protective of his older sister, as he stood between her and the Honeypot Ant Queen to stop them from fighting, even though he could have easily been hurt in the process. However, when he accidentally sucks to the breasts of the Honeypot Ant Queen, he is deeply uncomfortable, but unfortunately the Queen likes it so much that she makes him her royal boyfriend without further ado. Since then, Avis has had to suck on the breasts of the Honeypot Ant Queen rather involuntarily every day, which is a real ordeal for him, not least because he fears that he could develop diabetes due to the constant consumption of honey.

- Breasts: Female Honey Bees usually produce honey in their breasts, but sometimes they also produce royal jelly, which is extremely nutritious and has a number of effective uses. According to Mr President it is a valuable resource and hightly prized. One of the most extraordinary properties of the Royal Jelly is that, thanks to its high nutrient content, the size and intelligence of a Slime can be increased to its utmost maximum. However, as a male Honey Bee, Avis does not produce honey or royal jelly.
- Flight: As seen in Cheron's explanation in Chapter 70, Honey Bees can fly with their insect-like wings.
- Four arms: As a Honey Bee Liminal, Avis has four arms with fingers ending in sharp chitinous claws.
History[]
Avis is the younger brother of the Honey Bee Queen of the Bee Hive store and part of a community of mostly female Honey Bee Workers with the Queen as the leader, although as his sister is not really royal, he is not a prince. He is very close to his older sister, although he doesn't realize that her kindness to him is partly due to the fact that she is doting him as her younger brother, and not because she is a generally nice person.
When his sister came of age, she would lactate honey like the other females of her species which would cause problems if her breasts weren't expressed constantly. However, since she's being a queen, she felt it would too 'shameful' to use a machine for milking, like the normal Honey Bee workers, so she set up a store to find a human male who would be her worthy milker and spouse if he managed to pass a series of tests assigned to him.
However, the search for a suitable boyfriend for her queen led to a rivalry developing between the Honey Bees and a group of Honeypot Ant Liminals, whose queen had the same problem and was also looking for a boyfriend. Avis was concerned about this and in order to avoid a conflict between the two liminal groups, he teamed up with Milme, the younger brother of the Honeypot Ant Queen. The two brothers set up a post on the Darkmilk Breast website to attract customers (despite having concerns about the website being safe), who could apply as boyfriends for the queens, but this only exacerbated the conflict between the two liminal groups as they started fighting over the customers who showed up.
Due to the grueling tests, only a few of the candidates managed to get an audience with the Honey Bee Queen, but due to her fussy character, she rejected every applicant and gave a scathing speech in front of each of them about how 'pathetic' and unsuitable they were for the post of her potential royal boyfriend. Avis was concerned that they had made the situation worse by using the dubious breast milk website, although Milme insisted that otherwise they would never find boyfriends for their big sisters, which from the point of view of both brothers would be the only way to prevent the conflict between their two species.
Plot[]
First encounter with Kimihito[]
Avis and Milme worriedly observe the situation between their tribes and are discovered by Kimihito.
Through the leaflets given to him by the Succubi of the Babu-Babu School, Kimihito learned of the request that Avis and Milme had made on the "Dark Breast milk" website, and since he was to be on the lookout for possibly illegal activities in connection with this questionable website on behalf of Ms Smith, he decided to review the situation. On the scene of the event, he saw that the Honey Bee shop and the Honeypot Ant shop were arguing fiercely with each other over the customers, while Avis and Milme were also secretly watching the action. When Kimihito noticed the two insectoid brothers, and hee then invites both of them to have light refreshments at a restaurant while asking them what's all the commotion about.
Avis and Milme inform Kimihito about the difficult situation between their tribes.
Avis and Milme then introduce themselves to him, while he wonders a bit why they get along so well, even though they belong to two rival shops. Avis and Milme say a bit vaguely that they somehow became friends because they're dealing with the same problem. They then say their big sisters are the queens of their colonies, although they explain to Kimihito's question that 'queens' in this context is more closely the equivalent to 'leaders' without royal status and that the two brothers are therefore also not princes.
Kimihito asks the insect boys if their tribes seem to be at war with each other. Both continue by saying they're looking for suitable soulmates for their big sisters to be their milkers as well since they're queens unlike the worker bees and soldier ants, so milking machines are inappropriate for them. As their colonies are achieving the same quests, they ended up being rivals. Furthermore, the drones tell Kimihito that in order to find the right human man for the job, the candidates need to pass impossible and grueling tests.
Avis and Milme then tell Kimihito that they wrote the post on the dubious Breast Milk website in the hopes of attracting more customers as potential boyfriend suitors for their sisters, but in effect, it seemed as if they only made the situation worse, as their sisters now began to worry about the customers who showed up. Deeply depressed, Avis and Milme casually say that the situation could probably be resolved if they could find a candidate who was an expert at milking. However, due to his experiences during his time at the Black Lily Ranch, Kimihito is a milking expert, so he reluctantly volunteers to take the grueling tests in order to gain an audience with the queens so he can talk to them and perhaps prevent the rivalry between the Honey Bees and the Honeypot Ants from escalating into a full-blown conflict.
Kimihito's audience with the Honey Bee Queen[]
Kimihito's first attempt is to gain an audience with the Honey Bee Queen, whereby, since Avis recommends him to the other Honey Bee workers, he only has to take one of the grueling tests, the milking test. He passes this test with ease, but the Honey Bee Queen rejects him like every other candidate with a devastating speech, whereupon he leaves the Honey Bee shop distraught and somewhat traumatized.
Avis and Milme meet Kimihito again outside the Honey Bee shop.
Outside the shop, Avis apologizes to Kimihito for his sister's fussiness, while Milme assures him that the whole situation will be resolved even if their sisters don't find a boyfriend. Milme then insists that Kimihito, who isn't very enthusiastic about this idea due to his bad experience with the Honey Bee Queen, should now have an audience with the Honeypot Ant Queen. the brothers assure Kimihito that their sisters is actually very nice, but Kimihito points out to them that the queens probably just doting Avis and Milme, since they are their little brothers.
The 'Solution of' the problem[]

Kimihito's audience with the Honeypot Ant Queen doesn't go any better, but when the Honey Bee Queen suddenly bursts into the situation, it threatens to escalate into a brawl between the two leaders. Fortunately, Avis and Milme arrive in the nick of time to break up the fight by using themselves as human shields. Seeing the younger brothers of their opponents in front of them, the queens' demeanors become nervous as they try to break but end up slamming into the boys, resulting in their nipples being exposed, whereby Avis accidentally sucks on the Honeypot Ant Queen's breasts.
Deeply ashamed, Avis tries to apologize to the Honeypot Ant Queen, but to everyone's great amazement, the queen is not only not angry with him, but even asks him to keep sucking on her breasts, while the Honey Bee Queen does the same with Milme. Kimihito and the other Honey Bee Workers and Honeypot Ant Workers realize that the Honeypot AntQueen is a shotacon (which is one of the reasons why she didn't like the other candidates) and because of Milme's youthful appearance, she fell in love with him and choose him as her boyfriend.
Avis and Milme beg Kimihito for help, but he can't do anything for them.
The Queens then decide to switch their brothers as part of the Interspecies Cultural Exchange. Since then, Avis has had to suck on the breasts of the Honeypot Ant Queen rather involuntarily every day. Although he was able to prevent an incident between the Honeypot Ants and the Honey Bees in this way, this new situation is still quite difficult for Avis, not least because he fears that he could develop diabetes due to the constant consumption of honey. He and Milme complain to Kimihito about it and beg for the latter's help, but unfortunately, Kimihito can't do anything for them.
Zoological Classification[]

Honey Bees (ハニービー, Hanī Bī) are an insectoid demi-human liminal race who have four insectoid limbs, antennae, compound eyes, a bee abdomen complete with stinger, and wings, with which they can fly. The females produce Royal Jelly from their breasts, which is said to be highly nutritious and valuable. However, in most cases the breasts of honey bees produce honey.

- Avis, along with Flounnder, Sebasstian, Wladislaus Drakulya and Milme is one of just five named male Liminal characters in the manga series.
- It is not known what role Avis has in the Bee Hive store, as he cannot contribute to honey production as a male Honey Bee Liminal. As the Queen's younger brother, he seems to have at least some authority over the female workers -he could give Kimihito a recommendation, so that the latter only had to pass one of the grueling tests for his audience with the queen-, so maybe he could be more or less his sister's deputy.
