The Bee Hive Store is a Liminal Exchange store run by Honey Bee Liminals in Monster Musume, in Tokyo. The shop debuts in the manga series in Chapter 89.

General information[]

Bee Hive is a liminal store run by a Honey Bee Liminal tribe under the leadership of the Honey Bee Queen, who is more of a leader and not a real queen. The store is a rather medium-sized square building with a hexagonal image of a bee above the entrance. The store sells honey and royal jelly produced by the female Honey Bee workers in their breasts.

During the events of Chapter 89, customers were also able to milk the Honey Bee Workers manually by hand. Whether the store offers this customer service on a regular basis as part of the Cultural Exchange Between Species Bill is unknown, however, as this was one of the grueling tests with which the Honey Bee Queen wanted to determine which candidate was best suited for the role of her future boyfriend. But Avis, the younger brother of the Honey Bee Queen, mentions that the Honey Bee Workers usually use milking machines, so manual milking is probably not a regular customer service of the store.

History[]

The Bee Hive Store was built some time before Chapter 89, but directly opposite of another newly built liminal store, the Panzer Ameise store of a Honeypot Ant Liminal Tribe. This led to a fierce rivalry between the two stores, when the two liminal groups, since they both had the same goal, the desire to find a boyfriend for their queens, began to fight fiercely over the human customers coming to them. The Honey Bee Liminals were generally far less vocal or aggressive in their advertising than the Honeypot Ant Liminals.

Eventually, however, an incident in which Kimihito became more or less involved, led to the Honey Bee Queen eventually choosing Milme, the Honeypot Ant Queen's younger brother, as her boyfriend, while the Honeypot Ant Queen chose Avis, the Honey Bee Queen's younger brother, as her boyfriend, after they had previously rejected all other potential candidates with scathing speeches. This also led to the two queens starting to get to know and understand each other better, which also ended the rivalry between their workers and thus also the rivalry of the two stores.[1]

A short time later, when Kimihito had accidentally become quite popular, due to his actions in the past chapters of Volume 20, among the shops and liminals he had visited, one of the Honey Bee workers left a request to him under the nickname "the Mysterious Master Milker" on behalf of the other workers on the Darkbreast milk website if he could come back and milk them all. Kimihito, however, was very uncomfortable because he didn't need nor wanted this dubious popularity on such an illegal website and therefore he was not willing to answer on this request.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Unlike a beehive in real life, the Honey Bee Queen is not the mother of her tribe and her workers are not her sons and daughters.
  • It is not known what role Avis has in the Bee Hive Store, as he cannot contribute to honey production as a male Honey Bee Liminal. As the Queen's younger brother, he seems to have at least some authority over the female workers -he could give Kimihito a recommendation, so that the latter only had to pass one of the grueling tests for his audience with the queen-, so maybe he could be more or less his sister's deputy.
  • Similar to its namesake in real life, it stores honey.
