Plot[]

Early in the morning, Papi lies on her bad and thinks hard about something. For a moment, a blurry image of a human man she knows appears in her mind, but the memory quickly fades again. Unsure, Papi thinks that she has forgotten something.

Outside on the balcony of the Kurusu house, Kimihito and Miia are hanging out the laundry to dry while they are watching Papi. Kimihito says that he has never seen Papi worried before, while Miia thinks that maybe she doesn't like the idea that her mother coming to visit, with the Lamia thinking to herself that she felt the same way when her own mother announced her visit. While Miia is hanging up Centorea's skirt, she says that Papi has been so worried the whole time since she received that letter from her mother. Kimihito wonders what Papi's mother could have written that's got Papi so worried while he dried Lala's gothic lolita style panties.

However, the two's thoughts are interrupted when Rachnera suddenly intervenes in the conversation, whereby the Arachne looks at Papi's letter and says that she tried to read it, but due to the terrible handwriting of Papi's mother, she couldn't understand a thing. Shocked, Kimihito and Miia reprimand Rachnera for reading Papi's letter and that she should never violate someone's privacy like that. But when Rachnera, unconcerned by the reprimand and asks them if they don't want to read the letter themselves, the two immediatelly (hypocritically) want to, although Miia agrees with Rachnera that the letter is really impossible to read.

When Kimihito looks at the letter, however, he discovers that there is something else in the envelope and when Rachnera takes it out, the three see that it is a photo that seems to show Papi with a human man while they on a bed cuddle together lovingly. The three stare at the photo for a moment in shock until Miia asks uncertainly whether the man is Papi's boyfriend, while Kimihito thinks that the man is might be Papi's dad, although Rachnera rightly objects that this is not the kind of photo someone would do with their dad. Rachnera asks if that is might be Papi's ex and that maybe she completely forgot about him when she moved in with Kimihito as his homestay girl. Amused, Miia says that Papi is a birdbrain but that it would be impossible even for her to forget her own boyfriend.

While Miia is still laughing at the idea, Papi comes out of her room to the three of them on the balcony and says more to herself that she thinks that she has forgotten something really important for her. Totally shocked/dismayed, Kimihito, Miia and Rachnera stare at the Harpy, with Kimihito wonders uncertainly whether Papi was actually together with another man before he met her on his balcony. However, before he has time to think more about it, something suddenly falls from the sky and lands with great force on the railing of Kimihito's balcony, much to everyone's shock.

MamaPapi6

Papi's mother lands in a nodedive on the balcony railing.

When the dust settles, it turns out that the "something" is a Harpy with blonde hair and a typical Ganguro-like appearance. The Harpy loudly tells Papi to come home. Papi, shocked, calls the other Harpy "mother", a revelation that deeply shocks the others, with Kimihito thinks to himself that Miia's mom already looked young, but Papi's mother looks, like her daughter, practically like a child and he hardly does can believe that she is the mother of a young adult.

Papi's mother grabs her daughter by the shoulders and tells her to come back, to which Papi whines that she doesn't want to go home. As Kimihito watches the almost childish argument between the two Harpies, he is not sure what to think about it. Papi's mother asks her daughter hysterically if she doesn't remember the photo, but Papi says she doesn't remember anything and tries to fly away. Papi's mother tries to prevent her daughter from flying away by grapping her with her claws, but in doing so she accidentally kicks her daughter so hard that Papi crashes into Kimihiton and the two of them crashed into the railing of the balcony.

Since the railing has already been significantly damaged by the forceful blow of Papi's mother, it now completelly breaks under Kimihito's and Papi's weight and the two fall off the balcony, much to Miia's and Rachnera's shock. Luckily, the two fall on a large bush and are not injured, although Papi is very dazed by the fall. As Kimihito recovers, he hears Miia fighting angrily with Papi's mother from the balcony above because the Harpy injured "her darling". Although Kimihito doesn't really understand the situation and the behavior of Papi's mother, he thinks that it would be best to run away with Papi, but is worried about how they can escape from Papi's mother since she can fly. However, when he suddenly notices Suu who's checking what all the commotion is about and he has an idea of how they can briefly distract the Harpy mother.

PapisMotherWithSuu

A slimy distraction.

Meanwhile, Papi's mother breaks away from her fight with Miia and throws herself from the balcony at what she thinks is Papi. However, when she lands on her "daughter", is turns out that is was only Suu in transformation, causing Papi's mother to sink into her Slime body. Startled, Papi's mother asks "Papi" if she is melted, while Suu happily gropes the Harpy with her slime tentacles like everyone else.

Kimihito, who's now taking this chance to run away while carrying Papi, they arrive the Sakanoshita Park. He asks Papi why her mother is behaving like this when she starts regaining consciousness. He laughs off his own question before Papi can say something, since the Harpy can never remember anything. However, to his amazement, Papi says to his question that it's the rule of their people and then begins to tell it in detail.

Papi starts explaining that harpies such as herself, are a migratory species who are free to go wherever they want depending on their current choices. However, one day, officers in charge of the extra species law offer her tribe the chance to participate in the study abroad program, although the free-spirited harpies were not very interested in the idea. She continues by saying she decides to give it a try without telling anyone and assumes that's why her mother wants to bring her back.

PapisResetBrain

Kimihito recognizes how Papi's brain "works".

However, Papi stops her explanation when she notices that Kimihito had suddenly stopped and is staring at her in disbelief. Frustrated and worried, Kimihito shakes her and asks her why she can suddenly give him such a detailed explanation, in contrast to her usual forgetfulness. Then he realizes why Papi is in this condition because this is is how her brain works: normally, her brain resets after she takes three steps, but because he was carrying her, her brain isn't reset this time since she didn't take a step. Kimihito stays cool and calm as he continues his conversation with her. He suggests to the harpy to let her mother know that she wants to stay, but she says that it's against the law of her people especially when the place has at least one male to his shock.

MamaPapi3

Papi's mother asks the policeman if he wants to "mate" with her, much to his shock.

Before Papi is able to answer him, however, her mother suddenly appeared and try to catch them both, while she mentions the photo and something about home. Luckily for the both of them, before Papi's mother is able to catch them, a policeman riding a bicycle stops her and starts questioning her why she chases a Japanese citizen and what she's doing her without her host family. However, a few seconds later, the older harpy swoops down on him, reveals her panties to him by lifting up her tunic and asks him and if he wants to mate with her. This shocked the policeman and he says that a a violation of public order and standards of decancy, although Papi's mother doesn't understand what that means.

Harpy8

A bit too detailed description for Kimihito.

Papi takes this chance to escape from her mother by flying as Kimihito is lifted off in her feet. As they're in mid-air, Kimihito asks the harpy why is her mother behaving like this. Papi then tells that as she had said earlier on, her species aren't allowed to stay with any males for too long because their species consists only of women. So, when it's time for them to breed, they travel all over the world looking for as many male humans as possible to mate with them so she's very sure that her mother did the same thing. The description of harpies mating with lots of male humans is too much for Kimihito's vivid imagination so he tells her desperately to stop.

When Kimihito thinks about it for a moment, he admits that Papi's mother actually seems to be very free-spirited with her appearance (over-tanned, bleached hair and too much makeup). At this moment, however, he realizes that he had uncounsciously put the photo that was in Papi's envelope in his jacket at he looks at it in silence for a while. Then he hesitantly asks Papi if she has ever been together with another man and shows her the photo.

Uncertainly, Papi says that she may have met this man before she met Kimihito, but she can't remember. Kimihito wonders whether this means that the man in the photo is really Papi's ex-boyfriend, until he remembers that Ms Smith told him that Papi ran away from several host families before he became her host. He hesitantly asks himself whether it could be that there is a whole side of Papi that he doesn't know. But than, he suddenly realizes that it is strange that a photo of Papi with an intimate moment with her ex-boyfriend could be in a letter who sent Papi's mother to her daughter.

Before Kimihito can think about it any further, however, he and Papi are suddenly attacked in the air by the older Harpy, who is now quite upset and mentions the photo to Papi again and say something with "home". She narrowly misses her daughter with her claws, whereupon Papi hits back angrily, pushing her mother's top slightly to the side so that her breasts are now visible. However, during this retaliation, Papi had forgotten that she was still holding Kimihito in her claws, so she accidentally threw him in the air at her mother.

Harpy6

Tug of war between mother and daughter.

Kimihito lands on the older Harpy and accidentally puts his mouth on her breasts, causing Papi's mother to asks him if he wants to mate with her too. Outraged that her mother is "molesting" her boss, Papi yanks Kimihito back by his sleeve, but her mother grabs Kimihito's other sleeve, causing him to be dragged in the air between the two Harpies, whereupon he fears they could rip him in half.

Harpy5

Kimihito and the two Harpies fall into the pond.

Finally, Kimihito's sleeves tear from the tug-of-war by the two Harpies resulting in him falling into the depths without support. Terrified, Kimihito tries to hold on to something, but in the rush, he accidentally grabs Papi's and her mother's underpants and pulls them down to the feets of the two Harpies. Taken by surprise and shock, Papi and her mother lose their balance, whereupon all three fall into the depths, but luckily into a pond that cushions their fall.

MamaPapi2

Kimihito fears that the two Harpies will now start fighting against each other again.

After the three of them drag themselves out of the pond onto the bank with exhaustion, Kimihito thinks to himself that it was really lucky that they survived the fall unscathed. The next moment, however, he gets a big shock when its look like Papi and her mother are staring at each other angrily. Horrified, Kimihito suspects that the brains of the two Harpies have been reset because they have walked more that three stepts after falling in the pond, but they seem to still be just as hostile to each other as before. So, they could fight each other again without even knowing why.

Kimihito quickly tries to prevent another tragedy, but stops when Papi begins to speak to her mother in a calm tone, showing that Kimihito's fears were wrong. Papi tells her mother that she wants to stay with Kimihito and that of course she knows the rules of her people, but that she cares more about Kimihito than the rules or the past. She continues to say determinedly, much to Kimihito's emotion, that although she's a birdbrain who forgets many things almost as quickly as they happen, she will never forget that she wants to stay with Kimihito forever.

After this speech, however, Papi's mother just looks at her daughter with a puzzled expression and says without hesitation that Papi can stay with Kimihito. Taken by surprise from this instant agreement, Kimihito and Papi stare at the older Harpy in shock and Kimihito asks her, confused, if she hasn't come to take Papi home. However, Papi's says, confused by this question, that she never came for that and that Harpies go where they please and don't stay in one place for long. She adds that she didn't even come for Papi, but was just in the area by coincidence and just wanted to take the opportunity to see Papi. While Papi's mother begins to explain that she just made a mistake, Kimihito is just stunned to hear that he almost died for nothing and all the worry and the chaotic chase through Tokyo where completely unnecessarily.

MamaPapi1

Comparsion between the photo and the now changed look.

However, before Kimihito can say anything else, Papi's mother notices the photo in his pocket, whereupon she pounces on him and takes it. Overjoyed, Papi's mother looks at the photo, describes it as her "most cherished possession" and reveals that the photo is from when she first met her husband. Surprised, Kimihito asks if it's not Papi in the photo with the man, whereupon Papi's mother, in response to his question, that she therefore looks completely different in the photo (namely exactly like her daughter) because she later chose her current look (over-tanned, bleach-blond, too much makeup) because her husband likes it.

MamaPapi8

Papi's mother carelessly admits that she has forgotten the rules of her people.

Papi's mother goes on to explain that she accidentally put the photo in the letter she sent to Papi and that she just wanted it back the whole time when she chasing Kimihito and Papi. Relieved, Papi says that the guy she couldn't remember was just her father, although Kimihito doesn't find this very amusing and mildly reprimands the Harpy for forgetting her own father. Kimihito then asks the harpy mother why does she keep seeing her husband when her law prevents it. The latter replies that she has forgotten about it and adds nobody follows that law anymore. She then bids her daughter farewell and encourages her to mate with Kimihito before taking off. Kimihito finds it amusing how Papi's parents love each other very much as he wipes his face with what he later realizes is the harpy mother's panties, which he accidentally took off on her when they fell into the pond.

Papi's mother continues her nomadic journey when the bicycle riding policeman chases her for indecent exposure and she tells the latter, because she still misinterprets what he actually wants from her, that she will not mate with him because she's married. At the end of the chapter, Rachnera tests Papi by asking the latter whether she remembers Kimihito's name to see if she's really like her mother. Papi proves the Arachne right by not being able answer her question and Kimihito gets upset about it.
