Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls (モンスター娘のいる日常, Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou) Chapter 88 is the eighty-eight chapter of the Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls manga series.

Written and drawn by mangaka Okayado (Inui Takemaru), this chapter was released in Japan on November 8th, 2024, by the Japanese publishing company Tokuma Shoten within the seinen manga and anime magazine, Monthly Comic Ryu.

The chapter was later gathered as part of the series' tankobon volume Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Volume 20.

Plot[]

Kimihito arrives at a seemingly abandoned building that's very worn down where he is greeted by an Alraune. The petite Alraune with twintails asks Kimihito if he is "Mr Tanaka" (his pseudonym name) and says that she will bring him to her friend who needs her nectar taken care of. Kimihito offers the Alraune a gift bag, but she gets confused and he quickly takes it back, thinking that this place works differently from the Succubi place. He remembers how the Succubus Receptionist of the Babu-Babu School gave him a list with only one item for the customer. Also the breast milk website said only that an Alraune needed help having her nectar extracted, but there was nothing else besides location and timeframe.

Kimihito follows the Alraune through the overgrown mansion.

Kimihito is confused if the Alraune doesn't want money or gifts or if she really just wants someone to milk her and assumes that the succubus receptionist might have set him up. He also imagines that the Alraune he's about to milk has a thug-like boyfriend and most likely gets into trouble for doing so. In his mind, he remembers the human victims in the hospital and worries that the Alraune may not be after money, but after her customer's bodies. He fears if he is being lured into a trap and will be drained dry. Complicating matters, Ms Smith had warned Kimihito before his departure not to get involved in anything really dangerous, as he is completely on his own out there, which implies that the Namimi Estate is in an area outside the jurisdiction of the MON, meaning they would not be able to help him in case of emergency.

The Pollinating Alraune releases pollen.

The Pollinating Alraune releases pollen.

But as he follows the Alraune through the overgrown garden, his train of thought is interrupted when a fern hits him in the face with weeds and he inhales some of the pollen, causing him to have an irritated nose and slightly watery eyes. While Kimihito follows the Alraune, however, he doesn't notice that those twintails of hers are shaped like flowers which is expelling pollen that is settling in his nose. Uncertainly, he also wonders why the Alraunes wants to meet him at this place, since there are certainly many other places without people in the area and he wonders if the Alraunes live here.

The greenhouse.

The greenhouse.

As Kimihito follows the Alraune through the overgrown garden, he is surprised to see that she walks past the door of the mansion instead of going into the building, but she ignores his question. Instead, she brings Kimihito to a greenhouse located in the garden, where she explains the client has taken root and is unable to move freely, which is why he was brought here. Kimihito asks why she took root in an abandoned estate, but the Alraune warns him cryptically and a little sharply to not ask the client too many questions, which intimidates him.

Kimihito is nervous to get so close to the Pitcher Plant Alraune.

Kimihito is nervous to get so close to the Pitcher Plant Alraune.

Kimihito enters the greenhouse and sees a hot spring, where the client, another Alraune, is settled and a pitcher plant attached to the end of a leaf is pouring water into the hot spring she appears to be in. She tells Kimihito to get undressed and wash himself and he starts doing so, but at the same moment he has no idea why he is following the Alraune's orders at all and finds it odd that the water from the shower head is cold. The Alraune then tells Kimihito to get into the water with her which once again he is unable to resist her orders, much to his confussion and she appears to be buxom and bottomless along with wearing mitten-like evening gloves as well as a necklet that's decently enough to conceal her breasts and has bizarre designs on her body. In addition, he thinks it's strange there is a hot spring in a place like this and so small he has to crowd next to her, which makes him very nervous especially after his chest bumps into her breast after entering it with a towel wrapped around his waist and she apologizes for it being so cramp.

The Alraune explains why she can't move freely (because she has taken roots) but figures the girl from before already informed Kimihito. He asks if the girl is her sister, but the Alraune states she's just a friend she met. The Alraune reveals she originally came from a tropical region and this place is colder than she personally is used to, which is why she planted roots in the greenhouse's hot spring.

The Alraune tells Kimihito that the nutrients in the spring have caused her to produce more nectar than she can handle it all by herself and therefore she needs help releasing the pressure. Kimihito tells the Alraune he didn't know any of this from the website, and she explains her friend usually handles electronics though she is not very good at explaining things. After hearing her situation, Kimihito begins to wonder if this place is as dangerous as the Succubi claimed it was.

Kimihito sneezes out the pollen.

Kimihito sneezes out the pollen.

The Alraune asks Kimihito to milk her as she parts the flaps of her necklet, which he does, albeit hesitantly, and begins to massage the Alraune's breasts. The Alraune admires his massage skills and she ejects her nectar into the water. Kimihito asks if she has a container for the nectar but she says it isn't necessary, instead offering him to suck the nectar directly from her breasts. Once again Kimihito complies with her command, although he wonders again why he is unable to say no. But just as he starts, he suddenly has a violent sneezing fit and sneezes out the pollen he inhaled before. After Kimihito recovers, he realizes to his great confusion that the hot spring has suddenly disappeared.

A shocking revelation.

A shocking revelation.

When the Alraune realizes that he has woken up, he looks down confused and realizes to his great horror that the "hot spring" what he has been sitting in this whole time was not a spring, but a giant pitcher plant, which is part of the lower body of the Alraune. The Alraune reveals that her friend can emit pollen with hallucinogenic properties that also force the breather to do whatever they are told. Realizing he had been set up, Kimihito immediately jumps out of the plant stark naked but the Alraune grabs him with her roots, though he does manage to grab his bag.

Kimihito overwhelms the Alraune with the liquid fertilizer.

Kimihito overwhelms the Alraune with the liquid fertilizer.

The Alraune tells Kimihito that the greenhouse's soil is poor and lacking in nutrients. Since she can't move herself because of their roots, their only way to get nourishment is to take them by force s by absorbing them from the bodies of their victims. She says that because Kimihito has "took" her nectar, she wants to take some of his nourishment as a "reward", much to his horror. The Alraune drops him into her pitcher to drain him dry, but after a while, she gets sick and spits him out. It turns out the item Kimihito brought was liquid fertilizer, which filled her up to the point she began to feel sick.

After Kimihito gets dressed and calls Ms Smith while the pollinating Alraune washes the liquid fertilizer off the pitcher plant Alraune with a hose, she tells Kimihito that the Alraunes were victims of trafficking and the victims who were wrung dry by them were criminals involved with trafficking gangs, and the abandoned estate was their base. She adds that plant-type liminals have often a poor danger awareness, or rather have a dangerous image, so they're more likely to become victims against human violence. However, Smith tells Kimihito that if they take the Alraunes in their care the situation would get messy because some of their victims aren't criminals but innocent civilians who are caught up in their scheme. So when Ms Smith and the MON would get involved into the Situation with the Alraunes, they wouldn't be able to completely ignored that which would technically make the two Alraunes to criminals. Kimihito comes up with an alternative idea to help the Alraunes.

Kimihito brings the Alraunes to Kii's forest...

... but much to his discomfort, they still want to continue their 'business' to get nutrients, although now with more legal alternatives.

This idea turns out to be Kimihito asking the Dryad, Kii if she can let the Alraunes live in her forest, and she accepts. The Alraunes are quite content with their new home, as there is an actual hot spring nearby so the pitcher plant Alraune can get her nutrients from there instead of absorbing them from humans and her friend can charge her phone, but to Kimihito's shock, the two won't stop in bringing people to them, although they now wants to start a business in which they asks for gifts like liquid fertilizer and nutritional supplements instead of lure people to them for their nutrients. The Pollinating Alraune also tell Kimihito that they won't be targeting anyone who isn't a criminal too hard as they actually have a few repeat customers. Not sure what he should think of this, Kimihito decides to keep quiet about this matter to Ms Smith.

Key Events[]

  • After the Succubi at the Babu-Babu School gave Kimihito an Breast milk site about some pretty serious and bad looking stuff, which maybe connected to the second culprit, so he visits the location to check it. The site is a request from an Alraune with a "nectar extraction request".
  • The address leads Kimihito to the Hamitoya Mansion, a seemingly abandoned mansion, where two new characters are introduced, two Alraunes, a small one and a big one, but their names are not revealed in the chapter.
  • It is revealed that the pollen from at least some Alraunes has a slight hallucinogenic effect, under the influence of it will cause hallucinations to their victims, which can be influenced by the Alraune at will. The Alraunes also seem to be able to control their victims with the spores easily, as even the strong-willed Kimihito came under their influence without any resistance.
  • Some Alraunes have the ability to use their pitcher-like lower bodies to extract nutrients from other living beings and store these nutrients as food in their own bodies.
    • However, absorbing too much nutrients, such as those from fertilizers, can cause them to have temporary sickly symptoms.
  • The two Alraunes (or especially the big one) are the culprits who are responsible for the emaciated victims in the hospital.
    • The "victims" were actually members of a liminal trafficker gang who kidnapped the two Alraunes from their tropical homeland to sell them in Japan. But the big Alraune then turned against her kidnappers and "eat them" by absorbing their nutrients from their bodies for food, causing the traffickers to fall into this emaciated state.
  • According to Ms Smith in the official translation of Chapter 88, Plant-like Liminals like Dryads or Alraunes tend to have poor danger awareness, so they are more likely to become victims of human violence, such as being kidnapped and sold by Liminal traffickers] In the fan translation of the Chapter, however, Ms Smith instead says that plant-like liminals have a dangerous image.
  • Since, apart from criminal gangs, some innocent civilians who had nothing to do with the traffickers also became victims of the two Alraunes, the MON cannot take the two Alraunes under their care. That's why Kimihito takes the two to Kii's forest, where they are safe and can absorb nutrients without taking them from humans.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first appearance of Kii and her forest after a long absence from the manga series since Chapter 44 (except for Kii's appearance in the light novel Monster Musume: Monster Girls on the Job!).
    • Both the gym and the hot spring that appears in Kii's forest in this chapter are a call back to Chapter 41, where Kimihito, Tionishia und Polt discovered the hot spring and Polt asked Kii for permission to build a resort in the forest, whereby in the case of the latter it was later revealed in Chapter 44 that Kii had given her consent.
  • The Pitcher Plant Alraune seducing Kimihito into hand expressing her breasts is similar to how Meamil did the same to the latter with two differences from the Dairy Breed Centaur. Firstly, she had help from the Pollinating Alraune and secondly, she lactated nectar instead of milk.
  • Kimihito being under the hallucinating effect of the Pollinating Alraune's pollen is similar to how he was under Kino's Matango spores in Chapter 45.
  • Due to the pitcher plant-like lower body of the large Alraune, it is indeed scientifically accurate that she felt sick after ingesting too many nutrients through the fertilizer, because in real life carnivorous plants are adapted to rather nutrient-poor soils, so too much absorption of nutrients at once, especially through fertilizers, can lead to harmful effects on them.
  • It's mentioned on the breast milk site that an post written by someone named Alrune about an Alraune needs someone to help "extract her nectar" (revealed to be the Pitcher Plant Alraune), but it's not stated which of the two Alraunes is Alrune (but it's most likely to be the Pollinating Alraune). However, in the official translation, the writter of the post is only stated as 'Alraune,' which gives no indication of a potential name.
  • This chapter was released on Nice Boobs Days which is celebrated in Japan.
  • In Kimihito's imagination at the beginning of the chapter, when he fears that the Alraune will lure him into a trap, she is seen smoking a cigarette, but as revealed during Kimihito's visit to the Kobold Casino in the light novel Monster Musume: Monster Girls on the Job!, cigarette smoke is very harmful to the health of plant-like liminals such as Dryads. In view of the fact that Kimihito himself took note of the fact that Kii seemed weakened by Lilith's cigarette smoke, it seems quite strange that he of all people, imagines a scenario with a smoking Alraune.
    • Due to the very strict laws on smoking in Japan, it has become common in Japanese media that only characters with dubious motives are portrayed smoking, including criminal organizations, shady businesses and associated staff or perpetuators. It is therefore probably that Okayado used the detail with the smoking Alraune only to illustrate to his Japanese readers regarding Kimihito's imagination in the latter's fear that the Alraune could be a criminal.
  • It's unknown what will happen to the Hamitoya Mansion after the two Alraunes have been relocated to Kii's forest.
