Daily Life With A Monster Girl Wiki

A female chicken (hen).

Chickens are a species of bird distinctively recognized for their plump, arched body profile, their tendency to bob their heads as they walk, and their distinctive clucking calls. While famously a flightless domesticated farmyard animal, there are wild species of chickens and other species that are genuinely flight capable.

Like many other bird species, chickens also exhibit pronounced sexual dimorphism: while female chickens (hens) are often solid white, brown, or black, male chickens (roosters) are usually much more colorful with long tail feathers. However, chickens can also vary greatly in color depending on the breed, so there are also less colorful to almost white roosters. Roosters are also naturally much more territorial and aggressive than hens, which is why, in chicken breeding, usually only a single rooster is kept with many hens, because if the breeder makes the mistake of keeping two or more roosters together in one enclosure, there is a high risk that they will attack and potentially kill one another.

Throughout much of human history, chickens have always been considered a source of food, with humans not only consuming their unfertilized eggs but also the meat of the birds themselves. Unlike cows and pigs, there are no religious stigmas surrounding chickens, meaning that their meat can be eaten regardless of religion, save for those forbidding the consumption of any kind of meat.

Trivia[]

  • As their names suggests, the Poultry subspecies of Harpies in Monster Musume are rather chicken-like, namely their more timid, flighty demeanors and how they tend to lay unfertilized eggs much more frequently than other Harpy species.
    • Due to the fact that Harpies in Monster Musume are a purely female liminal species, there are no male 'rooster' poultry harpies in the manga series universe.
  • Like with Mermaids regarding fish and Lamias with snakes, the Harpy species do not consider themselves similar to birds and have no issues in consuming poultry products, though Papi's response to the matter when Kimihito brings it up suggests that she didn't fully understand what he meant.[1]
  • Kimihito once talked to Ms Smith over the phone about procuring a roast chicken for dinner, though when Miia, Mero, and Lala overheard him they assumed it was something regarding lewd selfies and began taking some in private. The three ended up embarrassed about wasting time over the misunderstanding upon learning what he was actually talking about, and Kimihito never heard a single word about the ordeal.[2]
  • A common method for people to attempt to make a picky eater try an unfamiliar meat is to claim it tastes like chicken, given that chicken meat is very familiar amongst non-vegetarian communities owing to it's lack of religious ties. However, chicken is very distinguishable from the vast majority of other meats, with only certain other animal meats such as that of wild boars coming close when tested.
