Kimihito with the manual.
The "Extraspecies Manual," also known under the title "Liminals and You" in the official translation of the manga, is a manual in the universe of the Monster Musume manga series that contains information about the various Liminal species. The book was presumably published during the three years before the start of the manga series, after the Japanese government revealed the long kept secret existence of Liminals to the public, which led to the introduction of the Cultural Exchange Between Species Bill. Sometime before Chapter 20, Kuroko Smith gave Kimihito a edition of the manual.
Since the Extraspecies Manual has only appeared in Chapter 20 of the manga series, very little is known about its content. What is at least known is that the manual contains a section on Dryads and their characteristics, although, as Kimihito notes, the book contains no information that Dryads can grow to a gigantic size by absorbing certain substances like chemical fertilizers. This is presumably because this information was not known at the time of the Extraspecies Manual's publication, so that it is possible that, after the incident with Kii, this information was updated and added in later printed editions of the manual.[1]

Trivia[]
- Although Chapter 20 reveals that there is an official manual about Liminals, Ms Smith gave Kimihito books about snakes before Chapter 7 so that he could learn more about Miia's characteristics, since snakes and Lamias are very similar in their biology. It is possible that the Extraspecies Manual does not contain many or too few detailed pieces of information about Lamias.
- It is not known what happened to Kimihito's edition of the Extraspecies Manual in Chapter 20, but since Episode 10 of the anime adaptation shows that Kimihito dropping the book when Kii was choking him, and the book does not appear in any subsequent chapters, it is possible that he was unable to find it again later and it was lost in Kii's Forest. However, this was probably not a real loss, as Kimihito could have bought a new edition of the manual or that Ms Smith could have given him a new copy at any time.
