Papillions are a psudeo-human liminal species that share many attributes with the butterfly.
Like a butterfly, a Papillion spends its life-cycle between two forms; a caterpillar "larval" stage and an adult "butterfly" stage. The transformation between larva and butterfly presumably occurs on the cusp of adulthood and within a type of cocoon.
While the larval Papillion seems to have a vegetarian diet, adult Papillions require a liquid diet.
The species is known for sharing a symbiotic relationship with Alraunes where, as the Alraune lures prey in with their sweet smelling nectar (which also doubles as an aphrodisiac), the Papillion would paralyze the prey with their scales, whereupon they would both feed upon the helpless prey.

- Flare's wing patterns are based off a Monarch Butterfly.
- Papillions use their proboscis to perform a unique form of fellatio. When desiring to drink the "nectar" of their male or hermaphrodite mates, Papillions will place their proboscis at the tip of their mate's penis and penetrate inside their urethra. From there the Papillion will begin to stimulate their partner's penis with their mouth and hands (as is typical in fellatio) while at the same time work their proboscis deeper and deeper inside their mate's penis until they penetrate inside their prostate gland and gain access to the entrance of the vas deferens tube. Doing this enables the Papillion to, when their partner orgasms, use their proboscis to directly swallow their mate's pure sperm as it is produced by their testicles before it mixes with the semen produced within the prostate gland.
