The Full Moon (満月, Mangetsu) has a powerful effect on liminals in Monster Musume; making their carnal desires more pronounced and reducing their self-control.[1][2]
During the full moon, this combined with the possibility of Kimihito being able to marry one of them caused his homestay girls to lose their control and use their strength in full, to the point where he feared for his life. Amusingly enough, the way to apparently reduce the effects is to literally cool their heads. The morning after, it was shown that the girls have little to no recollection of their behaviour while under the effects of the moon.[1]
After learning of this firsthand, Kimihito determined that his home stays must go to bed early on nights with a full moon, and has apparently not had another incident since. However, in reality the girls (Miia, Centorea and Rachnera) were constantly affected by the moon and driven to sleep with him, but had worked out a system to keep each other in check and if that didn't work out, they arranged to have Suu stop them before they entered Kimihito's room.[3]
While the full moon affects almost all Liminals without fail, Liminals who are aware of their behavior and who want to avoid losing control often drug themselves with sleeping pills beforehand. Due to this, they'll be too sleepy to indulge themselves.[2]
So far known, only one race of Liminals is notably immune to the effects of the full moon, Satyrs. This is explained due to fact that Satyrs are already so lustful and have so little inhibitions to begin with, that the full moon simply cannot affect them more than they already are.[2] Suu has also show resistance to the effects of the full moon, as she is in charge of taking care of and protecting Kimihito Kurusu during the full moon nights so that the other girls don't try to sleep with him and have sex.[3]

Trivia[]
- The influence of the full moon on Liminals in Monster Musume is an obvious allusion as to how animals and people are supposedly affected by the full moon, bringing out their more bestial and primitive nature.
- The words "lunacy", "lunatic", and "loony" are derived from "Luna" because of the folk belief in the moon as a cause of periodic insanity.
- Scientifically calculated, a lunar cycle lasts about 29.5 days, which is slightly shorter than most months. In a month with 30 or 31 days, this can therefore in rare cases lead to two full moons in one month, if the lunar cycle of the waxing moon is completed directly on the first or second day of the month. The second full moon in a month is also known as a Blue Moon.
- Since the February, apart from leap years, usually has only 28 days, i.e. shorter than the lunar cycle, it is the only month in which it can happen in rare cases that it doesn't have a full moon if there is a full moon at the very end of the January. However, this can only happen if the full moon at the very end of the January is a Blue Moon. This also leads to the fact that in the year in question there are also two full moons in March, i.e. two blue moons in one year.
- Due to the length of the lunar cycle, a full moon on the 31th of a month is generally always a second full moon in this month.
- In Chapter 6 Miia, Papi and Centorea could hardly or not at all remember the events of the previous night in the morning, but the Residents of the Black Lily Ranch were able to remember them. In addition, Centorea tells Lala of an earlier incident during the full moon, which shows that Centorea can also remember it.
- Miia, Papi and Centorea may not remember the first incident because Kimihito had cooled their heads with the ice.
- While the full moon causes most Liminals to lose their control, this can be particularly dangerous with a Werewolf (or Werebeasts in general) as the likely-hood of injury due to the wild and unrestrained mind of the Werewolf/Werebeast is severe.
- Since the full moon awakens the animal primal instincts of the Liminals, it is not known whether the full moon can also influence human-like Liminals that have no animal characteristics, such as Dullahan, Elves and Dwarves.
- Although the full moon usually awakens the animal primal instincts, in Chapter 50 and Chapter 51 (when Curie flies out the window) the full moon can be clearly seen in the background, but oddly enough it has no effect on the Liminals. Okayado probably didn't think about this detail when creating the chapters.
- As seen with Freesia and Mil, the eyes of Liminals with animal characteristics such as Minotaurs and Pans can briefly change under the influence of the full moon to look uncanny like the eyes of the animals they are based on (sheeps, cattles), such as with rectangular pupils. However, since this was only seen in two short scenes and Freesia's and Mil's eyes otherwise looked normal during the chapter, it is also possibly that this is not really a side effect of the full moon and that Okayado was just using this as a stylistic device to show that the animalistic instincts of the "crazy" Liminals were "awakened".[2]
