Otherwise, I'll never get to taste his scrumptious inarizushi again!|Ils Nineta.}} Ils Nineta (ルズ・ナインティ<!-- small form of "イ"-->, Ruzu Nainti), is a Kyuubi no Kitsune (Nine tailed fox) who works at a Shinto Shrine near the Onsen Town as a miko. She makes her debut in Chapter 32, where Kimihito, Miia and Rachnera help her together to put on a tokusatsu show to attract more visitors to the shrine. ==Appearance== In her her true form, Ils looks like a young, almost childlike girl with blonde hair. As a Kitsune, Ils is not dissimilar to a female Kobold, with two large pointed fox ears on the top of her head, fur on her shoulders, and 9 thick fox tails. Her nose is also more like a fox nose and she wears a traditional Miko outfit. In her "adult form" Ils' features remain mostly the same, but she now has the appearance of an older teenager woman with much more mature features and larger breasts. Also, in this form, she has a collar of fur that covers her entire neck, as opposed to her true childlike form, in which her neck is completely devoid of fur. ==Personality== Despite Ils young looks she speaks in a manner which is closer to that of an elderly person as opposed to a child. However, she is still rather childish and enjoys playing pranks on others when she is not working. When she transforms into an older version of herself she drops this childlike behaviour in favour of a more mature sexualized flirtatious persona. Also when she is in her older persona she has no shame in appearing scantily clad or naked as she feels what people are seeing is not really her body when she transforms. She also seems to have become more daring because, when she transforms, she began to expose herself more to her chest. Ils has an intense interest in Japanese culture, which stems from her watching a lot of anime. It is this interest that drove her to join the exchange program and become a shrine maiden. Ils enjoys her job as a shrine maiden and works hard to draw visitors to the shrine in hopes of being rewarded by the shrine's master with inari sushi. Ils' fondness for inari sushi as her favourite food is so big that she can literally burst into tears when the shrine master denies her the sushi for some time as punishment for trouble she has committed. Ils can also be very short-sighted at times, such as when she tells Kimihito and Miia her initial plan to scare visitors by transforming herself into a monster so that the shrine would become famous as a "haunted shrine", with Kimihito openly stating that this would lead to the opposite of Ils' intention because people would stay away from the shrine out of fear. Ils also states that she wants to help save the shrine in order to thank the shrine master for taking her in despite his poverty. While this may make Ils appear sensitive, this good impression is somewhat marred by the fact that Ils primarily wants to save the shrine so that she can continue eating the delicious Inari Sushi that the shrine master prepares, which also makes Ils a bit selfish. Ils shows some responsibility for her transformation abilities, such as when she reacted in dismay and saying that she didn't want it to go too far, when Miia fainted after seeing Ils' transformation into a monster. However, Ils can also be easily tempted into more daring actions and openly admits that she can't control herself well enough to ensure that nobody gets hurt. In fact, despite her friendliness, Ils also has a very gloating nature, for example when she triumphantly announces her victories over her opponents on stage. So much so that Kimihito, Miia and Rachnera think that the Kitsune would be more suitable as a villain than a heroine in a tokusatsu show. As seen in Chapter 43, Ils has developed a fondness for live shows since her first encounter with Kimihito and his homestay girls, and although she wants to avoid the consequences at all costs if the shrine masters finds out, that doesn't stop her tries to secretly put on a new show behind his back. ==Skills & Traits== ===Personal Skills=== *Acting: Ils recently began putting on performances in order to bring more visitors to her shrine. Although she is good at memorizing her lines and enjoys playing a magical girl, her mannerisms make some think she would be better at playing a villain. Although in practice Ils managed the superhero show good, she admitted to Kimihito and Miia beforehand that she was fairly awkward, which is why she doubted that she would be able to do any of the action scenes. *Cooking: According to her secrets, Ils recently learned to make Inari Sushi herself, although it's not as good as the Inari Sushi of the Shrine Master. ===Physical Traits=== *Kyuubi no Kitsune Physiology: **Multi-Tail: The more tails a kitsune possesses, the more powerful she is. **Longevity: The lives of nine-tailed foxes are extremely long. **Shapeshifting: As a Nine tailed fox, she can shapeshift into any form she desires. From a mere adult version of herself, to a horrifying monster. However, she cannot change her clothes with her. If the form is too different from her previous one, her clothes can be torn apart. This makes her shapeshifting slightly inferior to that of Doppel and her species. **Alcoholism: A common trait amongst Yokai, many kitsune are very fond of alcoholic beverages such as sake. However, it is not known if Ils also has this trait. ==Possessions== So far she doesn't own any possessions other than those which have been "made" for her. ==History== At some point, Ils wanted to join the exchange program. While she was waiting in line for an interview, a Killer Bee got impatient and tried to fly to the front of the line. ==Plot== NC ==Zoological Classification== Yokai Kyuubi no Kitsune (lit. Nine-tailed Foxes) are a psudeohuman race that appear in Japanese folklore as intelligent beings that possess magical abilities to shape shift. While some folktales speak of kitsune of wildly different moralities employing this ability to trick others, other stories portray them as faithful guardians, friends, lovers, and wives. It is unknown if male Kitsune exist (as Kitsune can use both genders in their shapeshifting abilities) or if they are a single-gendered race. It is said that the more tails a kitsune has (they may have as many as nine) the older, wiser, and more powerful they are. Because of their potential power and influence, some people make offerings to them as deities. ==Trivia== *Like many characters, her name is a pun on her species. As surnames come before first names in the Japanese language, her stage name in Japanese is Naintei Ruzu (那院亭 瑠呪), a pun on the Japanese pronunciation of the words "Nine Tails", referring to her status as a "nine-tailed fox". *Ils' looks are similar to Polt's, in the respect of ears, tail, and nose. *Ils' ability to take on a more attractive adult form is likely a reference to a well-known belief in Japanese folklore, where Kitsune have been known to take on the form of human women to seduce human men, sometimes becoming their lovers or even marrying them and becoming their wives. *There is the saying that "the Kitsune has seven disguises, the Bake-danuki has eight". The Bake-danuki is thus superior to the Kitsune in its disguises, but unlike the Kitsune, which changes its form for the sake of tempting people, Bake-danuki do so to fool people and make them seem stupid. There is also the theory that they simply like to change their form. *As Okayado states in the bonus of Volume 10, Ils' name revers to the fact that she has nine tails. He also made kanji for her name, because he thought the fond looked cool. *Although Ils' shapeshifting is considered slightly inferior to that of Doppel and her species (since Kitsune can only transform their bodies but not their clothes), it is seen in Chapter 32 that Ils can also transform herself into a ball. As Doppel states in Monster Musume: Monster Girls on the Job! (chapter 5: Nurse), she cannot transform into an object as that is "the next level", so the Kitsune's transformation abilities are superior to those of the Shapeshifters in this regard. ==References== reflist CharacterList
