Massage is the manipulation of the body's soft tissues. Massage techniques are commonly applied with hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms, feet or a device. The purpose of massage is generally for the treatment of body stress or pain. In European countries, a person professionally trained to give massages is traditionally known as a masseur (male) or masseuse (female). In the United States, these individuals are often referred to as massage therapists, because they must be certified and licensed as "licensed massage therapists", as they are regulated health professionals.
In professional settings, clients are treated while lying on a massage table, sitting in a massage chair or lying on a mat on the floor. There are many different modalities in the massage industry, including (but not limited to): deep tissue, manual lymphatic drainage, structural integration and trigger point.
There are many types and forms of massage, one of which is the erotic massage, in which one person massages another person's erogenous zones to achieve or enhance their sexual excitation. However, the legality of erotic massages can vary by jurisdiction, with types such as the Nuru massage being considered prostitution and brothels in Japan and therefore forbidden.

Trivia[]
- As Doppel explains in Monster Musume: Monster Girls on the Job! (Chapter 5: Nurse), a massage wouldn't work on her because a Shapeshifter's body's build is completely different from a human's.
- Eel Mermaids specialize in giving erotic massages, though this also satisfies a fetish that is not uncommon with their entire subspecies. Their skills are enough to make a Lamia and a Centaur lose their composure.
- Massage can also be used to examine one's health. For example, massaging of the breasts can help to check for lumps.
- Massage can also help to make hand expression easier and more comfortable.
