Youko (妖子) is a Kyuubi no Kitsune (Nine-tailed fox) that appears in Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Online.
She joins the liminal exchange program to become one of many potential homestay boarders for the player to host.
Appearance[]
Youko is a woman of youthful appearance and porcelain skin with silver hair that extends down to her buttocks. She possesses nine fox-tails and a pair of fox ears covered in tan fur with white furred tips (her ears are tipped with brown fur). While the majority of her body is bare, her hands and feet (starting from her wrists and ankles) are enveloped in a coat of dark brown fur. Youko dons a hybrid two-piece dress that exposes her mid-riff and legs and possesses design properties from Japanese, Chinese and Korean traditions. The dress is decorated with blue floral imagery.
She often likes to smoke a gold Kiseru (a Japanese smoking pipe that is traditionally seen as a symbol of opulence). Her kiseru possesses a crystal strawberry ornamentation.
Personality[]
Perhaps as a result of her longevity, Youko possesses a flirtatious but refined, adult air that frequently sees her falling into the "older sister" role in social groups. She likes taking on the "older woman" role in relationships. As being flirtatious is part of her personality, she is admitted unsure with how to deal with innocent men.
She loves eating Kitsune Udon and is fond of Sake. She also secretly desires to tour the sake breweries all over Japan; often taking the time to visit sake exhibitions at the local department stores.

Kyubi no Kitsune (lit. Nine-tailed Foxes) are a psudeohuman race that appear in Japanese folklore as intelligent beings that possess magical abilities to shape shift. While some folktales speak of kitsune of wildly different moralities employing this ability to trick others, other stories portray them as faithful guardians, friends, lovers, and wives. It is unknown if male Kitsune exist (as Kitsune can use both genders in their shapeshifting abilities) or if they are a single-gendered race.
It is said that the more tails a kitsune has (they may have as many as nine) the older, wiser, and more powerful they are. Because of their potential power and influence, some people make offerings to them as deities.

- A Kyubi no Kitsune, or Nine Tailed Fox, is said to be the final form of the Kitsune. In most myths a Kitsune's mystical power is based on how many tails they have, making the Kyubi no Kitsune the strongest variation.
- Youko's name is one kanji change away from being "Demon Fox" (妖狐 Yōko?).
- There is the saying that "the Kitsune has seven disguises, the Bake-danuki has eight". The Bake-danuki is thus superior to the Kitsune in its disguises, but unlike the Kitsune, which changes its form for the sake of tempting people, Bake-danuki do so to fool people and make them seem stupid. There is also the theory that they simply like to change their form.
- Youko can be obtained for free as a quest reward after completing 100 Shopping trips.
- While recommending a book for the player to read, Youko recommends reading Gon, the Little Fox (ごん狐, Gongitsune).
- Kyubi no Kitsune tend to be intelligent but playful, with a pronounced love of trickery and mischief. Many are also very fond of booze. That said, as wild as they can be whilst still free to do as they please, they are usually very loving and devoted brides.
- In Japan women are considered to be "tanuki-faced" (square/round) or "kitsune-faced" (inverted triangle/heart-shaped), the latter being considered sexier. In addition, calling a woman "fox-faced" or "foxy" (in reference to the Kyubi no Kitsune) is a huge sexual compliment in Japan.
- Youko was ranked high in the "1st Monmusume Online Popularity Vote" and as a result a small change will occur if the player equips her with the fashionable glasses accessary.
- The fact that Youko's dress has Japanese, Korean and Chinese influences may allude to how the Kitsune appears in the mythology of all three countries.
